I’m Alexandra-Victoria Haman Bonte, the founder of Bonte Filipidis, a luxury boutique real estate agency, and a partner at Golden Estate FCR, a €100 million venture capital fund. My career revolves around high-end residential and commercial real estate in Portugal and Poland, as well as sustainable energy initiatives. I’ve contributed to landmark developments like the Hilton-branded residence in Carcavelos and the Marinha Guincho Residences in Cascais. Beyond real estate, I’m passionate about sustainability, empowering women, and bridging cultural gaps, which I actively promote through my social media presence and ambassador roles.
How did your diverse background across multiple countries and industries shape your approach to founding Bonte Filipidis?
Growing up and working across various countries taught me the importance of adaptability and understanding different cultural and market dynamics. This experience allowed me to approach Bonte Filipidis with a global perspective while respecting the nuances of the local markets in Portugal and Poland. My background in finance and exposure to fast-paced markets like Paris and London gave me the tools to identify opportunities, foster trust-based relationships, and innovate within the luxury real estate sector.
What inspired your focus on high-end residential and commercial real estate in Portugal and Poland?
Portugal and Poland offer unique opportunities with their blend of cultural heritage and modern appeal. Portugal’s stability and rich history attract clients looking for luxury properties with character, while Poland’s dynamic and growing economy presents exciting prospects for commercial real estate. I was inspired by the chance to create a portfolio that balances elegance with functionality, catering to a sophisticated clientele in both regions.
What were the initial challenges faced when transitioning from Paris and London markets to Portugal’s economic environment?
Moving to Portugal during a recession presented significant challenges, especially transitioning from the fast-paced markets of Paris and London to a more conservative and slower economic environment. Adapting to the pace of business and learning to navigate local regulations required patience and resilience. One of the biggest hurdles was creating my own opportunities in a downturn, which pushed me to develop entrepreneurial strategies, master the Portuguese language quickly, and build long-term trust within the community.
How has the focus on eco-responsible luxury shaped the company’s projects and client relationships?
Eco-responsible luxury has redefined how we approach our projects and connect with clients. Sustainability resonates with the values of many high-end property buyers today, and aligning our projects with these principles has strengthened client relationships. This focus showcases our commitment to creating properties that not only provide luxury but also minimize environmental impact, reinforcing trust and loyalty among eco-conscious clients.
What unique challenges are associated with developing sustainable luxury homes?
Sustainable luxury homes require sourcing high-quality, eco-friendly materials, which are often more expensive and harder to procure. Additionally, adapting traditional construction practices to meet modern sustainability standards can be complex. Balancing luxury aesthetics with environmental responsibility without compromising on quality or design adds another layer of difficulty.
In what ways have you included sustainability in your projects?
We’ve integrated sustainability into our projects by prioritizing energy-efficient designs, using eco-friendly materials, and working with builders who share our commitment to green construction practices. For instance, our projects often include renewable energy solutions, water-saving technologies, and designs that harmonize with the natural surroundings to reduce ecological footprints.
Looking ahead, what are your plans, and how do you want to inspire the upcoming generations for a better tomorrow?
Looking ahead, I aim to expand Bonte Filipidis’ portfolio into new markets while continuing to champion sustainability in luxury real estate. Through my work on projects like Eko Atlantic, a sustainable smart city in Lagos, I hope to inspire the next generation to prioritize innovation and environmental responsibility. I also strive to empower women and promote diversity in leadership roles, ensuring that future generations inherit a world where sustainability and inclusivity go hand in hand.
